Well behaved and long lived, this grass is tough and requires little maintenance apart from a yearly cutback. The Autumn foliage colour in cooler areas is magnificent ranging through yellows to oranges and even reds. Deep rooted and drought tolerant once established, 'Big Bluestem' is wonderful as a backdrop or a feature. 1.5 - 2m in height. Grown for its form and Autumn appeal.

Cinnamon bronze upright foliage is the reason this sedge is best known. A New Zealand native, it performs best where the Winter is not too wet and the Summer is not scorchingly hot. I know no other plant that polarises people in their opinion more than this one. Some fall in love with the bronze foliage and yet others see it only as a brown grass. We fall into the former and love the contrast it provides, especially with silver or purple foliage. Grows approx. 50cm high x 30cm wide.

Arching green foliage edged with strong white bands is 'Everest' distinguishing feature. Use under trees with Ajuga, Helleborus and Ligularia.
